The following events are on the calendar. We hope you'll be able to attend one or more of them. Registering to vote, changing party affiliation, requesting a mail-in ballot, and updating your registration, is simple. Just go to the Colorado Secretary of State's website, www.sos.state.co.us, click on Elections on the left hand side of the home page, and you'll find the information you need. American Enterprise Institute (AEI) and the Aspen Institute teamed up to present a series of Conversations with Peter Wallison, Danielle Pletka and Arthur Brooks from AEI, moderated by Elliot Gerson of the Aspen Institute. GrassRootsTV recorded the series, which is now being aired on GrassRootsTV and streamed on their website. GrassRootsTV broadcasts on Comcast Cable Channel 12 from Aspen to Catherine Store and on Comcast Cable Channel 82 from Carbondale to Glenwood Springs.
To see the series on television or on the web, please go to www.grassrootstv.org for the television schedule (click on Schedules) or go to Search at the bottom of the home page and type in Aspen Institute in the box under Show Search, then click on the Conversation you want to see on the web. Look for: Show ID #9361 for "Does the Cure Fit the Disease: Perspectives on Regulation of the Financial Markets" with Peter Wallison and Elliot Gerson (Event Date 8/11/2010) Show ID #9356 for "Violent Islamists and the States that Support Them" with Danielle Pletka (Event Date 8/11/2010) Show ID #9360 for "The Battle: How the Fight Between Free Enterprise and Big Government Will Shape America's Future" with Arthur Brooks (Event Date 8/12/2010) August 24th with John Suthers--From Frieda: Peter and I are hosting a fundraiser for Colorado Attorney General John Suthers at our home next Tuesday, August 24, from 5:30 to 7 pm. You probably know that John is running for reelection and had the courage, along with 19 other Republican Attorneys General from around the country, to bring suit challenging the new health care legislation in federal court. In John's case, he had to overcome the objections of the Democratic Governor and Legislature to pursue this litigation. As a result, the Democrats plan to mount a campaign to unseat him and have enlisted the District Attorney of Boulder County to run against him. John needs money to counter their efforts. The requested donation to attend the event is $100. The minimum donation to be on the Host Committee is $500. If you would like to bring a potluck appetizer to the event, it will help assure that funds raised go to John's campaign. Please RSVP to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and, if you plan to bring an appetizer, please let me know. We look forward to seeing you next Tuesday. |
